I downloaded a film (The Negotiator) using Bit Torrent.
After days and days of downloading it was finally complete.
The film is comprised of two 717Mb files with the .avi extension.
I tried playing it with DivX player (version 6) and when it opens the video a message appears saying...
The video file you are opening includes audio data that is not recognised by the DivX Player.
The file contains the following type of data:
Audio data: Tag 8912
You may need to install a new audio codec on your computer to listen to the audio.
The video plays fine and is of good quality, but there is no sound what so ever.
The video also plays in Windows Media Player (version 10) but again there is no sound.
I used gspot (version 2.21) to find out details about the video.
It says the audio codec is...
ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc
and the stat says that there are 2 compatible codecs installed...
- Pinnacle AC3 Encoder (2 channels)
- CyberLink Audio Decoder
The audio bit rate is...
256 kb/s (5 ch) CBR
The video file is...
DivX 3 Low-Motion
When I press Render to get more information I get the following error message...
DirectShow partially succeeded to play file. The actual text of the error or warning is:
0x00040242: VFW_S_PARTIAL_RENDER - Some of the streams in this movie are in an unsupported format.
The following combination of filters were used:
C:\Documents and Sett..-..ENG] [DVDrip]\The Negotiator (1998) [ENG] [DVDrip] CD1.avi (Video Source)
AVI Splitter (Video Splitter)
DivX Decoder Filter (Video Decoder)
Video Renderer (Video Renderer)
Does anyone know why 'both' these DivX files I downloaded wont play audio ?
It took days to download and its extremely fustrating now that they wont play !!
Are they corrupt or do I need to install a new codec or use different software to play it ?
I was planning on burning the video to CD or DVD, thats if I can even get it playing audio.
