Hi, I'm trying to burn a PS2 backup of Dynasty Warriors 5, using DVD-Decrypter. I have a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U burner, set on Ultra DMA2 - Ultra 33 transfer mode. I've made 5 Maxell DVD-R coasters so far. The first four I burnt before defragging my hard drive (I'm a newb, I know :P) and they all went to 0% buffer at some point during the burn. The 5th I did after defragging, and after downloading and installing ASPI and the lowest the write buffer got was 60% for a few seconds, otherwise both it and the device buffer stayed at or near 100%. I've been exitting everything I have running thats exitable, and burning at 1x speed. I haven't gotten any errors during the burning process.

When I go to use Swap Magic 3.6 to load the DVD's, it says that they aren't valid PS2 disc's.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in Advance

You need to edit your Nero serial #'s out before someone hack it from you. To edit, click on the "pencil & paper" icon on the far right hand inside the faded orange bar, once you're done editing, hit "save changes" and you're done.

Nero version: 6.3.1.20 (Nero Express)
Nero is really old, you need to update to the latest of 6.6.0.16 to better the burning/performances.

Your Samsung dvd burner's firmware is 2 versions behind. Go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2011 and get the latest "US06" for an updates. This will increase the burning performances and media compatibility.

CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U nvatabus Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a a347scsi Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off
All your drives/drivers DMA is Off, you need to Enable them back ON. Try the following to troubleshoot/uninstalling the driver and bring DMA back up.

((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" it's driver ?for Win XP users?))

A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER", left click on "PROPERTIES"
B) left click on "HARDWARE", left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
C) left click on +sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
D) double left click on your DVD burner or your dvd-rom drive
E) left click on "DRIVER", left click on "UNINSTALL", you will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system", just click "OK", now "SHUTDOWN" or "restart" your computer
F) once you restart your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner?s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!

NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "uninstall" it from the ?IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers?

(A) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
(B) double left click on either Primary or Secondary IDE Channel
(C) click on "DRIVER", "UNINSTALL", "OK" and then "shutdown" or "restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!
(NOTE: you have to know where your "DVD Burner" or "DVD-ROM drive" is installed to what Channel). Usually it's the "Secondary IDE Channel" because your "C: drive" or "Hard Drive" would be the main aka "Primary IDE Channel" already. If you're not sure, then you need to check it with "Nero Toolkit" first before you "uninstall" any of them. Once you verify with Nero Toolkit, then you can continue with the above steps.

NOTE: To verify your dvd burner/dvd-rom drivers with Nero:
Open up "StartSmart", click on "Nero Toolkit", then click on "Nero InfoTool" (InfoTool will run and retrieve all drivers), now click on "Configuration" - this should show you where your DVD Burner/DVD-ROM is installed under either Primary or Secondary <--- make good note of that and you're ready to "uninstall" your dvd burner/dvd-rom drivers now.

Your burner doesn't like the media you're using. Try other high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Maxell (Made In Japan), and the FUJI & SONY (Made In Japan). Remember to update the burner's firmware as well.

The best way to rip a PS2 games that's under 4.7GB via DVD Decrypter is just to do a 1:1 copy -- that is, if you're using high quality media such as genuine Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim.

NOTE: for DVD movies, I recommend using the Mode, File F method, but try the following, especially for PS2 games only:

- Mode, ISO, Read R --> to your hard drive and wait until it's completed.
- Mode, ISO, Write W (and pick the MDS file) --> to your burner with top notch media and burn.

Thank you very much for replying :)

I haven't tried your tips yet, cause I'm scared to update the firmware on my dvd burner... I looked for a tutorial but couldnt find anything. Is it a generic process for all burners?

Honestly, I've always updated my Sony burner's firmware, when there is one available. However, the choice is yours to make. I highly recommend though because your burner will increase the performances and enhances media compatibility (read/recognize and write other new media and manufacture codes better.)

Updating dvd burner's firmware? All you need to do is click on the latest "firmware" and save it on your "desktop" or "My Documents" folder and once it's done downloading, just click on the firmwar file to start it up. It will run automatically by itself, you don't need to do anything.

(NOTE: if it comes with a notepad "readme", then I suggest you read it before you perform the updating. Keep in mind, to make sure you "DON'T" have any CD or DVD inside your burner in prior to the firmware updating process.)

Read here http://www.dvdtech.com/contact/faqs/index.shtml -- it will tell you something very useful to update your burner's firmware.

Awesome, updating the firmware and Nero version, and burning at 4x worked. Thank-you very much :)

But, some reason it still says DMA is Off. In device manager it has the "Let Bios choose" box checked. Should I uncheck that and force it to use Ultra DMA2 - Ultra 33? (I thought I did that for the earlier burn, but I guess not)

And is there any benefit to doing that for my hard drive aswell?
