Difference between DVD+R and CD-R

What's the physical difference between a DVD+R and a CD-R? A higher quality media? Or are they really the same except for an id tag?

CDR can only hold 650-700 MB per disk. DVD+R/DVD-R can hold 4.7 GB per single sided dik...approx. as much 6-1/2 CDR disks. They look alike, being the same size, but each is differently constructed. And the tracks are laid down much tighter on DVD, so there are many more. And yes there are physical tracks on the disks. Think of vinyl records if you're old enough to have seen them. If you do a search on cdr and dvdr you may be able to find pictures of how the disks are assembled. Especially check at sites such as TDK, MEMOREX, SONY, MAXELL, FUJI. And of course the drives have different characteristics to be able to read their respective disks.
