Hi guys,

I used a dvd ripper for Sin City and saved it on my hard drive. Then followed the directions here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shr...

to use the DVD-Shrinker.

I now have my Audio_TS & Video_TS files saved but when I open Nero and import the files from Video_TS I get error messages on about half of them and end up with only about 30 minutes of the movie.

It says stuff like: "Unable to insert c:\SIN-CITY_2005\VIDEO_TS\VTS-03_0.VOB

Any ideas?

irish80ca ,
Welcome to the forum. Why did you not have Shrink automatically burn the files for you instead of you dragging the files over. In Nero you should use Recode to do the movie. Suggest you set Shrink to burn the DVD using Nero by clicking " enable burning w/ Nero ". It is located in Edit> Preferences> now look the bottom and it is there

That option has already been checked (I guess as default)but I don't see a "Burn" button. Now what? Do I have to start the re-Authoring all over again?

irish80ca ,
Below is a guide on using Shrink and burning automatically w/ Nero. The error you got was from dragging the files over into the burning program incorrectly. Since the files are on the HD that the ripper created then click on them and restart the encode but do what the guide says to do

One other quick question you might be able to answer. I had a copy of my wedding put on DVD disc and would like to send a copy to family in Ireland. How would I change the format to PAL?

I've read about a program called TMPGEnc but have only ever used it for changing AVI files to Mpeg to make a VCD (before I purchased this DVD burner).

irish80ca ,
You can try the program below as the price is right or you can try TMPGEnc. I have only converted a few DVDs and I was not pleased w/ the results but they were playable. I would really ask the person that did the DVD for you if he still has the raw .AVI files and then have him encode the DVD in PAL Format as most of the better authoring programs will let you do that

Ok, back to my original problem. I have done the dvd shrinking and then burned the video with Nero. Now when I get it in the DVD player the video DOES pop up but plays like a badly scratched disk.

For the first 3 seconds or so it plays fine (both audio and video) the it starts acting up. I watched the timer on my player and noticed it takes about 3 seconds for every 1 second to play on the dvd.

Whats going on now.

If it makes a difference I can tell you the video is about 2 hours 4 minutes and I can see just about the whole disk has been used in this burn. Could the fact that this movie is large be the problem.

I want you to D/L DVDinfoPro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

Now I want you to do a CRC Test on the movie you just did and see if there are any read errors. If you have a DVD-Rom do the test from that device. If it has errors then it might be the burner is going bad, burning too fast, blank media is a low quality. Post back the number of red boxes you get( those are errors and you should have zero (0 )
