Hi all,

Im new to DVD authoring. I have created a DVD-R of original content - short movies I have made.

I put it into my LG DVD-2280p for the first time, and it span and made noises for a while, then started playing so I thought 'great'!

But the weird thing is now it wont play in there again! I have tried cleaning the disc and cleaning the laser lens, and resetting the players region code, and loading the disc many times, but every time it says 'disc error'.

I can accept that this player doesnt like DVD-Rs as it is quite old, but to accept and play it once but then never again seems very strange to me. Any advice?

cheers

Philips brand at 8x.

My burner is capable of 16x, but in Nero the highest speed offered was 8x.

Ive read about video_ts folders and the like, but it means nothing to me. any help is greatly appreciated!

Try lower your burn speed to 2-4x to see if things are better.

i know im new to this...but how will that help?

the DVD plays fine in my PC, its just the set top box that has the issue. Surely the data is the same however fast it is written?

xanderd,

Many people have problems when they burn their disks at higher speeds. Despite the fact that all the blank media and hardware claim burn at "XXX" speed - alot of times, the stand alone players will have issues reading them. That is why scf suggested burning at a slower speed. Why dont you try that, and then get back with us.

@xanderd

You also may want to try a better grade media to burn with. Phillips is not a very good media and may be part of your problem. Try TY's or Verbatims, Maxell's, Sony's, Fuji's. You will have much better results with these. Stay away from memorex (memosux as call at this forum).
