What is the problem with this hardware? Everytime that I try to burn my mpeg, avi, divx or even home movies, it gives me an error message. Am I supposed to use certain kinds of disks or what? I am so lost. Right now I am using TDK 8x DVD-R...is that not right? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME???!!!

I can get it for you if you need it.

What burning program are you using? What is the firmware version for your burner? What is the error message? What are your computer system specs.

I have a pioneer DVR_109 and find it compattable with most discs, have you updated your firmware lately..if not then try that first. You should be able to use either +R or-R with this burner.

I have tried various programs such as AVS, Nero, TMPGE and I Copy DVDs, its not working. The firmware is version 1.20. The error that I get is that the burner does not recognize the media. I had to reboot my comp so if I get the same error this time I will post it verbatim. And I'm not a computer wiz so please explain what you mean by "specs." If you need more info please let me know.

I can get it for you if you need it.

If you have a 107D then firmware 1.20 seems to be the latest firmware and you're up-to-date.

What brand and type of media are you using? Have you tried a different brand of media? Have you ever burned successfully with the burner before this? You might try uninstalling the drive with Device Manager and then allowing Windows to automatically find and reinstall the drive. If you could post a Nero log that might help. The log (NeroHistory) file is in this path: Program Files --> Ahead --> Nero --> NeroHistory. Be sure to remove your name and serial number (usually first couple of lines) before posting.

Actually this is my first time ever using it. However I went and bought alot of programs that don't seem to work with it. I just tried the TMPGE DVD Author and it said that it was written, but when I tried the disk on 3 different DVD players, not including my DVD drive, it gives me a disk error. I don't have the error log for Nero anymore because I had to reboot my system. Im using the TDK DVD-R 8x, I haven't tried any others. Im writing at maximum speed and like I said, DVD author is saying that it is successful, but I dont know why my players are giving me errors. I am so lost and confused. Is my info at all helpful in you helping me with my problem?

I can get it for you if you need it.

DmNcnGyrl,

Part of the problem may be you're burning at too high a speed, The quality of the burn is sometimes compromised by burning at max speed with some media. Try burning at 4X. TDK is quality media for the most part.

Nero keeps a long history so the log file should still be available. However since you got an apparently good burn, concentrate on burning at a slower speed first. You might also want to acquire some RW (rewriteable) media for testing.

Also if you're just burning data files, your dvd player won't recognize them. They need to be in video format (mpeg). NeroVision can be used for AVI files. There's also DivXtoDVD for putting DivX and other files in dvd format. Is that the problem?

Hi DmNcnGyrl,

I too have a Pioneer 107 along with several others ~

A couple of important questions,

1. Is it an internal OR external drive ?

2. How much RAM do you have ?

3. What speed is your processor ?

4. Have you removed anything from msconfig ?

Finally,

5. When have you last done a defrag ?

I sea you're burning at MAX. PLEASE dial that back to 4X.

answer the questions, I have some ideas ~

Pete
