I hope someone can help me as I have become very frustrated.

I want to stream video to my son who is away at college. I have tried several different applications without success. VideoLan is the one I am currently using.

All of the streaming software is fairly straight-forward and I don't believe that is where my problems are. I think I am streaming OK, but am not using the correct syntax to watch the stream with WMP.

My computer is on a LAN using a Linksys router. I have the internal IP of the streaming computer and have unsuccessfully tried to use it along with the external IP from another computer on our LAN, but I'm not sure of the correct syntax or for that matter if tboth IPs are necessary.

I can't even find any URLs for media streams that are behind routers to see what form they take. The few websites I have found about streaming have not been helpful at all.

I would greatly appreciate any help I can find.
