I have backed up quite a few DVD's (DVD -R). They work on my DVD Player (Sony) but they do not work on my brothers Panasonic. He plays other copied DVD's which are being copied using the same method. (Decrypter then shrink then Nero in most cases) My movies don't always work on my Toshiba lap top either. It is hit and miss. Any particular reason why mine are not working on his dvd player or my lap top?
Disc brand, could be cheap media, don't know cause you didn't say what brand disc. Burn speed, keep it at 4x. I found that certain players don't like movies compressed too much either, so it could be just the movie needed to be run through Shrink differently (re-author main movie only). Need more information from you (disc brand, burning speed, burner type with firmware version), possibly post your Nero log to the Nero forums and some others will help too.
I was doing it at 8x. I will try to slow it down but I am sure the others he is playing are being done at 8x. I use Memorex dvd's? I am not sure what make my burner is I don't have access to my computer at the moment. My computer is an MDG. When burning I usually only take the movie. I eliminate the menus and the extras. If I can I try to back it up without having to compress it.
@NotreDame hi :)
you have answered your own question
burn speed far to fast keep to 4x or slower
memorex. the worst media you can buy ,if you have any left burn even slower 2-2.4x
set shrink target at 4300mb to keep the burn well away from the edge of those crappy disc's
buy some decent media as suggested in my sig
hope this helps
That's the usual problem of playing backups.Your own players have no trouble with them,but when you play your backups in a lot of standalones-then more compatability problems.
Step up a better quality media.If the backups don't play in the panasonic,then try the plus format if your burner is a dual format drive.
