does the speed of your dvd writer affect the process of backing up ps2 games... besides the fact that it takes longer than faster dvd writers. does it make the backup skip, freeze, or not function properly?

the slower the better i recomend 2X ,if you do it to high some of the game might lag

depends on burner and media

for example my 1620 and tyg/tudent work perfectly at 8x

Yep, agree with liquidus... I back up anything from 4x to 8x usually for my games and they don't lag/skip or anything... around 150 backups now with my NEC ND3520A.

I have the same NEC 3250A drive and use Tayio Yuden at 4x
