Ok, I just downloaded a file and no matter what program I use it just wont open. I used winrar to extract it to an empty folder, once it was there after the file name it says "XVID-LRC". Now I know LRC is the group who made the file so I figure it's just an ordinary XVID.
Apparently I'm wrong because I've used winamp, my divx player, windows media player, and even a few video converter programs to recognize this file to no avail. I think I have run into this problem before and just had to give up, but I really don't want to do that again, so if anyone has any clues as to what I'm doing wrong or anyone knows how to fix this please help.
As always thanks in advance.

Do you get an error message when you try to open it if so what is it?
Are you sure you have the correct codec's for it?

No error messages it just prompted me to choose a program to open it with, initially i used winamp and it opens it as if it is going to play the file but it it does nothing. It doesn't freeze or anything it just dosent play. the same thing happens with the other programs i used to open it. And as for codecs I have FDDSHOW and that seems to play all my other xvid's fine. Any other ideas?

Provided the file is not corrupt you can try using a program like GSpot to ID the codec's it needs.
You can download it from here:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

While FDDShow is a great codec pack it still may not have the codecs needed for your file. That's were GSpot can hopefully ID the codec used. Once you know what it needs then you can at least search for it.

Just an FYI but FDDShow just released an update yesterday which you can download from AD here:

Another fairly complete codec pack is KLite which you can download from here:
