I've just purchased Gen4 Bulkpaq DVD-R 2x discs (torquoise front). They appear to burn fine but then I have trouble reading these on various settop/rom drives. Using Stomp etc with Pioneer A05 v1.21. Is anyone else having problems with these discs? They are awful.

Hi,

I read that there are allegedly some counterfeit discs that have ATIP info that id's them as being manufactured by TDK.
I have tried to contact bulkpaq asking them to confirm or deny that these disc's of mine are part of that 'bad' batch but have not had a reply from them yet!.
Maybe you have a similar problem in that these disc's are not 'the real deal'?

Mark.

i have also been having problems with films freezing at the end of bulkpaq disks both purple 1x and purple 2x. I have found since that if the centre circle of the disks are white and not clear, they work fine, touch wood.
Easy answer is use datawrite yellow 1x or gey 2x as they work 100% ,for me anyway.

I have now bought some Datasafe Classics 2x (Grey tops) these work brilliantly.

Interestingly enough Ebuyer.Com have removed the bulkpaqs 2x gen4 from ordering. They had a fair few tubs in stock when I placed mine. ;) hmmmm....

Concerning these Datawrite Yellow 1x, I confirm, they can be burnt with Pioneer 105.

Unfortunately, you can meet some playback pbms with these medias. For ex, almost every movie that i recently burnt are freezing at the end when i play them with my DVD-ROM Pioneer 500M.

When i play them with the Pioneer 105 writer, they play fine. Just one movie ("Fight Club") freeze in both drives.

i think it depends on what kind of purpose you expect from your burnt DVDs.

If you have a good DVD-R drive, or a good standalone DVD player, you can't be disapointed. I dunno about Xbox and Playstation, but i heard they work fine.
