hey im planning of getting a ps2 from one of my friends. i was thinking of about getting a chip and use a hard drive for it. if i do this can i still play online with the games from the hard drive?

No you cant play online from the hard drive but you can play patched backups with a chip.

Yes, but you could use Swap Magic instead if you are not thrilled about getting a chip put in or doing it yourself.
