Hi
I've been having problems with games i've been making. I'm not a n00b so dont expain to me asif im stupid and it wont take much of your time to explain. I've been doing ps2 backups for years (downloads and homemades) but i've stopped recently. Got rid of my chipped ps2 but now i have swap magic 3.6 etc.
In the past i always used Ritek dye media. I'm currently using g05. But recently my copies arn't working. Especially EA, if any work they are non-EA. Sometimes they load upto the video or something but whatever..
I use imgtool to burn, fresh from the downloaded iso (torrent or IRC). I have an NEC 3520 16x dual layer burner, i burn at 4x with my GO5 media.
One note is, that i use my computer quite a bit and the device buffer is unstable with the std. buffer at 0% most of the time. Could this be a problem? If not what else could be? Surely i dont have to rebuild/patch isos that i download? Is there a universal patch? Any quick tips on rebuilding? I have most of the progs like cdgenps2.
Thanks for the help.

if you have Nero rebuilding is pretty simple as long as no
single file is over 2gb.

I have heard good things about Ritek G04, but not so much about
G05. Have you tried any other media like TDK,Verbatim,Philips,
Taiyo Yuden?
And when you say you use the computer a lot, i hope you are not talking about while you are burning.
Never use the PC while burning, and always shut down any programs
that may be running in the backround like antivirus.
DVD Decrypter is one of the best for burning and i have read that
Nero works real well with EA titles.

Is it necessary to rebuild even when its a downloaded 'scene release' from guys like echlon etc.
Anyone know where to get Tayio Yuden cheap in UK? I always thought ritek was good enough though.

I've tried the discs that don't work on my PS2 with swap magic, on a chipped ps2 with messiah 2. They load fine and are pretty fast - the ps2 was V3 aswell with a kinda worn out laser, so i guess its not the media. Do i need a patch/rebuild the iso or will new tayo yuden still help? Is there anywhere where i can get the latest swap magic patches?

I have had to rebuild some of my EA backups, especially tiger 05. I use swap magic as well, but I haven't had to apply any specific SM patches, except for Mercenaries. Mostly just rebuilding required, see the thread stickied at top of page. requires: DVD Decrypter, isobuster, cdvdgen, and a little command prompt.
PS2 - V4 W/Flip top, Swap Magic 3.3
Burning - Sony DRU 720A
Dvd Decrypter

yeah, a chipped PS2 will play the game fine even if it
needs to be rebuilt. Rebuilding is only for those people
who use swap magic. Since i got my DMS4 Pro i have not rebuild a game yet. No patching, rebuilding, swapping, problems with regions,
or extra swapping with cheat discs
i just love it.

Ok thanx alot for that, gonna have to do some rebuilding tonight then.
One last question, i see people buying tayio yudens for $30 USD in usa.. (im in UK) are they genuine? Where can i find them for that price in UK, if not any USA sites where i can order them to the UK?

Yeah but if i have a rebuilt disc for swap magic will it work on a chipped aswell i.e a friends or something.
Another thing, say i burn a rebuilt disc, and rip the iso at a later date and burn that iso, will it need rebuilt?

For dvd blanks try this place:-
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/248066#1387914
And if you already have a rebuilt .iso you do not need to rebuild it again.. just rip it off the disc to harddrive and burn it. If I need to make another copy of any game once I already have it on DVD-R, I usually just do an on the fly copy dvd with Nero... works fine with most of the ones I've done, but could get probs sometimes, safest way is to rip to harddrive then burn.

Are both methods of repacking (isobuster + nero/iso buster + cdvdgen) as effective as i can't get my cddvdgen to work.
