""" SoftDev has released GCOM v2.2 which is an update to his famous backup application. This version have two new features, loading *.dol from DVD's and Viper Fix. The first feature pretty much expains itself, Viper Fix though might need explaining, it fixes the *.dol so you can send it to PSO with Psul or Psoload, run it from memcard made to boot with Samson loader. """

New features:
Load dol files from DVD
Viper Fix code.

For those of you having trouble with getting GCOM22 to produce a working .dol file, here's a quick little tutorial.

Open up the command prompt by going to Run and typing in cmd.

Step 1 - Getting your PC's IP address on the home network **Skip this step if you already know what it is**
Type in ipconfig and hit enter. Take note of the IP address as you'll need it in step 3.

Step 2 - Changing the prompt's directory
Since you need the prompt to look into whatever folder you have GCOM22 extracted in, you need to use the cd command. Type in cd (whatever folder GCOM22 is in) and hit enter. An example of this would be cd C:/documents and settings/owner/desktop/gcom22.

Step 3 - Making the DOL file
Type in gcom22config -pcip (your PC's IP) -gcip 192.168.1.32 -mask 255.255.255.0 and hit enter. An example of this would be gcom22config -pcip 192.168.1.102 -gcip 192.168.1.32 -mask 255.255.255.0

Unless I screwed up somewhere, this should produce a working dol file. The dol file will be saved in the same folder as GCOM22config.exe.

Your welcome.

I saw I wasn't the only one having problems getting it up and running due to lack of experience with the command prompt, so I figured it'd be nice to post a tutorial.

ha ha finally i got RESIDENT EVIL 4 to work after all this time!!

im using softmod as i couldn't be fu#ked soldering + i bought PSO and BBA last year for the only reason for playing backups!

i tried Gcos, Anconda, efal07, Cubesoft phoenix 2.5, starcube GC Simulator Preview edtion *repack* and nothing, i tried just about everything in the softmod area and no luck with RE4

today i used GCOM 2.2 tweaked my laser to 162 & burnt RE4 to a uber sh*t cheap dvd and IT WORKED!!!!

been playing for 4 hours now and my gamecube hasn't stop spinning the disc like the others softmod software :)
altho the audio sync is kind of annoying, which i guess hardware modding is greater but meh finally works

thanks to all who tried helping me last year on this site
and
thanks boki2002 & Venom5880 for the Gcom 2.2 info

Hardware mods have about the same gameplay performance as soft mods as far as I can tell.

If the audio is getting really bad, try burning to better media, since poor media will often provide burns with poor gameplay performance or not even boot at all.

I've never heard of anyone having that kind of problem.

What are you using to load the DOL?

Also, GCOM 2.3 is out now so that might be worth a shot.

I am using Netcat to transfer DOL.
I figure something out about Stopping Motor. When GC is turned on, you supposed to press left D-pad and B button together. I think I press it too quick so it goes to Waiting for Network message with the disc not spinning. At one time, I did with the disc spinning and it says STOPPING MOTOR, then says INSERT ORIGINAL DISC AND PRESS A. I think it helps everyone who has the same problem out there. But here comes more problem.
i get to the point that the GC message says STREAMING and wait for many hours and finally return messages says REMOTE ABORTED.....
So frusttrated. Am I supposed to get some kind of message once I put in the Http://192.168.1.32/backup.iso?

If you use Internet Explorer to download the iso from the GC, then it should come up with the usual download window.

Also, did you set it up to talk directly with your PC? If you don't configure GCOM just right, it won't work properly.

I think I set everything right. This time i use wget to get backup iso. It says on the PC dos command screen:
COnnecting to 192.168.1.32:80... connected
http request sent, awainting response... 200 OK
Length: 1,459,978,240 <1.4G> [application/binary]

0% [ ] 0 --.--K/s

It looks like connected, but not transfering data to PC. It has been more than 20 mins and still 0%.

I couldn't figure out how to get wget to work with it, that's why I just use Internet Explorer.
