Let me start off by saying that the movie was fantastic. I will buy it when it comes out. I thought it was a great movie that certainly satisfied my curiosity and my expectations.
I also want to add that i was not a big Heath Ledger fan at all. Don't get me wrong, i think his death was sad and stupid. But, i never liked his style as an actor.
He was absolutely incredible as the Joker. He blew my mind with this role and i was one of the nay-sayers when i heard they picked him to play such an intricate role. I can't say enough about how well he played the Joker and how creepy and believable he was. If my vote counted an award would be due to the late Heath Ledger.
If you haven't seen it, GO.
So I take it you didn't enjoy Broke Back Mountain?
Didn't even watch it. If i wanna see some gay cowboys there's a country bar 20 miles away...and they're not acting.
An ex-girlfriend of mine actually made me watch it. I will admit that it wasn't entirely that bad, other then the make out parts - which I didn't watch! That kind of stuff really disgusts me, but it still had a pretty good story.
Speaking of cowboys, reminds me of this shirt I saw this guy wearing the other day. So a buddy and me went to the junkyard to pick up some parts for his car. There was this Hispanic guy there standing in line wearing a shirt that read, "Cowboy's butts drive me nuts.". That had to been the funniest shit I've seen in awhile. I don't think the guy even knew what the shirt said, he was just wearing it.

I put a license plate on one my tech's cars that said that.
It was great. A big flashy license plate with bold print. "Cowboy Butts Drive Me Nuts
I put one on another tech's car that said: I Brake For Sheep.
Hehe...good stuff.

I liked Brokeback Mountain, but I have to say I preferred Heath Ledger in The Patriot and a Knights Tale.
So, do i need to watch the earlier Batman movies before i go to Dark Knight?

You may not need to, but if you do I suggest 'Batman Begins'. The only other movies I saw of batman were the first two done by Tim Burton. The rest seemed to try and destroy the franchise.

Hi rtm, thanks. I wasn't going to bother with Dark Knight as i try to avoid all these superhero serial movies, spiderman, batman, etc., but as I like Heath Ledger and it's getting good reviews I might give it a go.
The kids are dying for the Mummy 3 to come out over here, is it out in America yet?

Mummy 3 should be this weekend. Of course if you haven't heard, Rachel Weisz is not reprising her role. Instead her role is played by Maria Bello.

I'll second that... The Dark Knight was absolutely incredible! A true work of art. Batman Begins was awesome and this just blew it away... Lets hope the third one is just as good!

I thought 21 was good and yeah The Dark Knight was killer! I also saw Untraceable recently and I gotta say that was probably one of my favorite movies so far this year! And how funny it was to see Tom Hank's son and WOW does he look so much like his dad!! Great flick!

Brudges was good, I had some good laughes with it, that seen abuzar1 provided that was good.
Zo's great one's, wow a lot to list, I can't think right now about the best ten, I do agree Seven is one of them, when I was younger it was always Ben Hur & Ten Commandments, which are still great, but to many new ones came about.
Godfather
Scarface
Original & newest King Kong
Shawshank Redemption
Crossroads, and not the one with the skank britney
Usual Suspects
Than there are the ones that were not the greatest but deserve a special note:
Excorsist, cause it was one of the only movies that scared the balls off of me.
Anybody remember Americam Wearwolf in London, I never saw those kind of special effects before that dazzled me, now of course its small potatoes.
If I really thought about it I could list many more good movies, these were just off the top of my head.

as quoted by cincyrob
Quote: the second movie was journey to the center of the earth... i thought that was gonna be so silly id fall asleep before it was over. but it was good as can be. wish i could have seen it in the theater just for the 3D effects. my oldest son seen it in the theater and he said it was the best movie he seen. mostly cause of the 3D effects.
I have a big argument with that! I love a good 3D movie and seen Jurney To The Center Of The Earth in 3D! the special effects were great to watch and made it more exciting than watching it without the 3D! My friends asked me if I liked it... I told them it wasn't a chick flick and if you are comparing it to the original movie then don't go and see it! If you want to watch the 3D then see it for it's great! they went to see it without the 3D and they blasted me for telling them to see the movie! they hated it and said it was for children not for adults!
How old are you cincyrob? I'm 55 and I loved the 3D version of it. Just wondering how old you are.
