I converted an AVI movie to MPEG but now the file is too big!
I've opened Nero Express 2 (came with my new burner) but when I import the file to Nero it says it's too big. It asks if I'd like it to automatically resize the file and when I click ok I get and message saying it is unable to and to try manually.
How do I resize this video without cutting off the ending?
thats odd, i have tons of AVI files in that range, even more and less and have no problems with converting to mpeg 2 for playback.
and i use Nero as well, but have the full version. just out of curiousity, what version do you have (the latest) if not download the updates, only do the first 2 updates, use nero's info tool to delete in cd and the mp3 player, as well as Nero showtime. what burner do you have? is the firmware in that up to date as well?
what media did you use? what was/is the burn rate?
and lastly, just an option, can your stand alone read an AVI file straight up?
Yep I agree that it's strange but one MPEG I transferred to HD 4.1g also blew out to 9+g after conversion. Tried everything and eventually had to burn to 2 discs. Still dont know why.
I dont know whats going on either. It must be something Im doing because this is the second AVI file its happened to. The movies are only about 1hr. 40minutes on average and the original file size I DL is around 700mb (AVI).
I have used Cucusoft Pro AND TMPGEnc to convert the AVI (on two different computers) with the same size results.
As far as the media info goes........ I have yet to burn this movie because of the size the Mpeg files turns out to be.
I just bought my first burner. I got it from BestBuy. The brand is Comstar. Its an external burner with a speed upto 16X. The media the sales rep. suggested was Maxell DVD-R.
I have ripped one DVD-9 movie and managed to get it to work fine but these AVI files arent agreeing with me.
@irish80ca, have you tried using VSODivxToDVD to convert and then you can burn with Copy To DVD made also by VSO. Just tick the box in DivXtoDVD and see how it goes, it has worked for me and both progs are free
I've tried that DVIXtoDVD program already and it does work BUT between mine, friends, & family, I've now tried playing the video on 5 different dvd players and so far it has only worked on my parents cheapy player.
The media is DVD-R by Maxell. It won't play on my JVC or my brother's Sony which are both suppose to play DVD-R and his also plays DVD+R, DVD-RW. Any idea why? Is there a "settings option" I can mee around with?
Could it be the Nero EXPRESS 2 causing the problem?
irish80ca ,
More than likely your problem is related to the burned media not being compatible w/ the various DVD Players. If your burner can burn (+) DVD's and your burner can booktype the DVD's then that might make the DVD's more compatible w/ the other players. If it can not then you will experiment w/ various brands to see what will play in the other players
