HDAdvance 3.0 PLEASE HELP

hello new user
i am new with ps2 harddrive thing, but i just bought a Hdadvance 3.0 pal from hdadvance website and i am having problems loading games as DVD games dont work on my ps2. i loaded a few games on the ps2 put the Hdadvance CD inside and the only games that work is Pro Evolution soccer 5. i transfer all the DVD games from PC to PS2 using the HDL dumb and all the CD games the normal using the ps2 but the DVD games dont work. i think i need to play the DVD games by loading the HDadvance DVD software but sadly my ps2 laser cant handle the DVD games. can someone HELP PLEASE if there is any other alternative thank you

i think that maybe your problem, if i'm not mistaken you need NTSC for american made games or one that would be region free, sorry if i'm wrong?

no he may have bought hda 3.0 NTSC from www.consolepoint.com , one thing that may be affecting you is that your laser may just be plain dying out. Try using a laser lens cleaner, they cost max 5-6 dollrs.

thanks for your suggestions guys but the problem is not the laser. i just found out that you have to set modes to play some DVD games all the games i installed on mu hard needed diffrereny modes to be played. so now everything is fine and everything is working well and i am loving the harde drive experience, man the games load fast. lol

Hi,
I just want yoy to know, that....
I use HDAdvance 3 + 160 GB WD HDD.
Messiah 2 and silver ps2.
Yesterday i Made an iso of GranTurismo4 and sent it to the ps2 hdd useing Winhiip 1.7.3.
Same with GodOfWar, and both games play perfectly.
Grrrreaaat

Xbox 1.6
200Gb HDD
Softmod (no soldering)
love the MC exploit on un-modded ps2's

by the way guys,
have any one been able to make a backup copy of HDAdvance 2.0 or 3.0?
I have HDAdvance 2.0 and wanting to make a backup of it, but unsuccessful.
any tips?

You can only a boot a backup of HD advance with a MC exploit, original copy, modchip or Swap Magic.

I just found out about HD Advance 3.0. Correct me if I am wrong, the only way to transfer a DVD-9 game is through the PC and then to the PS2.

Thank you for the quick reply, so what is the benefit that I read about being able to transfer a game from the PC dvd-rom to the PS2 hard drive using DVD Decrypter and HDL Dump?

Well that would allow you to boot the game off your PS2 HD with HD Advance 3.0. It speeds up loading times and saves wear and tear on your laser. Not all games are compatible with HD Advance:

I understand that part, but this is what I read earlier about HD Advance 3.0:

about half way down it has directions for this:
How to install DVD-9 games from computer to PS2 (for HDAdvance 3.0 only)
Is this the only way to install DVD-9 games on the PS2 HD with HD Advance 3.0 or can you transfer as you would a DVD-5 game.

You transfer as normal, with a USB cable, USB extreme, winhiip, or HDL Dumb. That just means that only HD Advance 3.0 is compatible with DVD-9 games. To play DVD-9 games with HD Advance 2.0 and earlier, you have shrink it to DVD-5.

First you create an iso file with DVDdecryptor...
This one can be as big as a DVD9 game is. (8.6 GB i.e.)
Then use winhiip or any other, and transfer the game without any modding to the HDD.
Put HDD back in PS2, boot with HDA3, some times set mode to unload hda3 after launching the game, and have fun....
more fun, download iso's...

What about if I want to download a ps2 game, put it on my HD and play it on a PS2 BUT I have a Mac? Are there programs that can do the same thing as HD Advance that will work for a Mac? Thanx for any help. :-)

I know it's the truth. The thing is... in my searching I came across this webpage so this kinda is searching for me. Anyway, it's nice of you to leave a message at all. I shall keep on looking. I don't see why they wouldn't make a version for Mac if there is one for PC, but you never know.

I'll look a little bit and see what I come up with. Well I just thought of something. You wouldn't need HD Advance itself to be compatible with Mac, but rather Wihiip and HDLDumb, the programs that allow you to transfer the games from your Mac to your PS2 HD. That may not be exactly correct, but it sounds right to me. I suppose Mac would still need to be able to recognize your PS2 HD when you transfer the files via USB cable, USB extreme, whatever.

Couldn't find anything useful, sorry. All I came across thru Google, the HD Advance official site and AD was this: Any of you Mac OS X guys had any luck either mounting, or just being able to copy files to a Playstation 2 Hard drive?
I have tried the Virtual PC route and everything doesn't work. -heh
I want to be able to put my backups on the HD to be run with HD advance 2.0
I know there is another place for PS2 stuff but everyone over there is PC!!!!!
Please help a guy out, thanks!
The post went unanswered. The short answer is if it's that hard to find, no. Don't get discouraged, it may be possible, but if it were, it makes me think the info would be a little more accessible.

hi im brainpain i hope that maybe someone could help me cause i'm lost with this.
i purchased a few weeks ago hda 3.0 i tried to convert the games into an iso file that worked out ok with DVD Decrypter but to transfer the file's into the ps2 didnt worked the hdl_dumb program wont make a connection with the ps2, still i did everything from what i read from this site

games like god of war and burnout revenge don't work if i want to back them up on the ps2

I'm trying to run GT4 on my HD with HDAdvance 3.0 but it won't work. I press select and intead of giving me 3 modes it gives me 7 diferent options like "disable DVD9 support" or "kill HDA after launch" and stuff.
In addition, to those of you who are already thinking about mentioning it. I DON'T HAVE A DVD-ROM ON MY PC. Can anyone help me?
