I have a problem while i took apart my ps2 trying to fix something and the ribbon cable that connect the top to the base has come off and know the ps2 want come on . Is there anyway to fix this or is it useless

I have the same problem, I was trying to fix a disc read error, whitch I did, only after i had taken out the ribbon cable too, its not damaged in any way, but the power doesnt work. If you`ve figured out if anything can be done about this problem, could you please tell me,I know its alot of trouble to sit down and tell me what to do, but im kind of at a reall loss here, thanks!

inugirl05 you might want to edit out that email address as it is against forum rules. Did the ribbon come out of the top or bottom half? What version PS2 do you have?

Um, yeah ok, i`ll take that out, and it came out of the bottem half,its still connected to the lid part, i have no idea what kind it is, how do you tell, all i know is that is old because i got it when they first came out, so i dont know.

You might want to check this site out

you need to take off the top and bottom casings. You will find three coloured pins...to the side of these pins is a small shunt into which you plug the ribbon cable.
make sure you plug it in the right way round...look for the metallic pins that should connect to the metallic strips on the ribbon cable.
It is a bit of a pain to push the flexible cable in, but this should solve the problem!
