I am currently making backups of my friends' imported games for ps2 onto a memorex dvd+r with nero at 16x speed. when i attempt to use it the disc does not load...i also use a slide card and a boot disc and not a modchip
i believe my ps2 is a v4
i just am wondering if... these could be the following reasons..:
-memorex brand sux
-need to write at x2 or x1 speed
-v4 can only play dvd-r
i've been searching/reading forums for answers.. and i've come across the ones above.. i need to know exactly what the problem is..

Memorex do suck
burning at 16X is WAY too fast. Burn them at half the speed
the DVD's are. If they are 8X burn at 4X
if they are 4X set DVD Decrypter to 1X
and i would say yes, from what i heard the V4 and below
only like the -R media get one of the following
TDK,Philips,Verbatim datalife,Ritek,Taiyo Yuden
I have heard that Maxcell and Sony are ok but only if you
get one's that say madi in Japan on the package.

Ok, I bought a sony DVD-R pack.......
Still using Nero......
Going at a slower speed (2x-4x)
The same problem is happening to me.
I keep hearing a clicking noise simultaniously...
Then it stops
then it clicks
Then it stops
Well you get the picture..
How do i Fix This Problem
Thank You

Ok, as the other guy said, yes memorex sucks, but good for going with Sony. Yes v4 wants -R media. and yes 16x is WAY too fast.
Now, I'd ditch Nero because I personally hate it. I use either Alcohol 120% but if you can't get the registered copy, then go for DVD Decrypter. You can make an iso and burn an iso with the same program. Nero is just too weird for my tastes, but thats just my personal opinion.
When you say you are hearing a clicking noise, is this after you've loaded up your Swap magic and went to exchange disks? I know this sounds stupid, and I'm not trying to say you are, but are you sure you put the laser lens back down in the right position after the swap? Believe me, many a drunken nights, I've forgotten to do that.

don't worry about that... but could you explain about the laser lens back down in the right position? ... i don't really understand it...
i'll try to explain what happens... i burned marvel vs capcom 2 onto a cd and it played just fine with the slide card technique... and when i try a dvd game... it doesn't work... and when i load up the DVD-R into the ps2.. it makes this skipping noise...it attempts to run.. then more skipping.. then it just stops.. i have bad luck with dvd's i suppose.. but cd-r's work fine..

As far as Sony discs go, they don't work for crap with my PS2, so that still may be your problem. I still have found Taiyo Yuden to be the only media that works properly with my PS2. I only had about 2 out of 10 Sony's work.
As someone stated, a laser adjustment may be needed, or it could just need to be cleaned as well.

Sound is like click click click click then it stops then it does the click click click click again and stops and the cd does not spin...
the click noise occurs when the cd is spinning.
Yes it happens with all dvds copies so far...
BUT the original games work fine
i did a laser adjustment but it didnt to any good to the ps2.

the problem is continuing... i've noticed something... all the cdr games are loading perfectly... including cd loader.. and games like mvscap2 ..but every time i try to use the slide card technique w/ a dvd the clicking noise comes on... could it be that my boot disc only works for cd's?

What boot disc are you using?
If it's a swap magic boot disc there are 2 ones for DVD's ONLY and one's for CD's ONLY so it could possibly be a CD ONLY disc
