SSX and The Suffering: Ties that bind act very strange in my ps2, they are both burnt on verbatim disks. The laser like slides slow across the disc and sounds almost as if its scratching the disc or the disc is scratching the lens, these are the only 2 games that do this to me.

Agrees with Liquidus. Rebuild: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id4.html#rebuilding or do a TOC refresh: From what I understand to play a Double Layer or DVD-9 Game, or a game over 4.38GB's, you have to:

1) Insert SWAP MAGIC DISK
2) Insert a double layer layer original game
3) When it says TOC refresh
4) Eject by pressing the eject button and
5) Insert the double layer backup of your choice
This doesn't half to be a double layer game, just an original game that is bigger than Swap Magic, around 4.38GB's.

I burned this game without rebuilding using Maxell-r and Decryptor and game works perfectly. I burned game at 8x and I use SM 2.0 with all my games and have never had a problem.

I'm glad but SM 2.0 causes a lot of people problems. It wasn't a very well designed product. SM 3.6 corrects a lot of the flaws of 2.0 and eliminates the need for DVD loader, CD loader, and cogswap loader, and is superior in every way. As far as Dummy files,
From Hursty:

when you see the iso has dummy files.i.e 00DUMMY. 01DUMMY. GARBAGE ETC,
you need to get rid of them,by replacing them with a file.

so on the desktop, right click the mouse, select "new" > text document
rename it as it appears in isobuster, click enter

then open the text document on the desktop, hit space once, then save,
this will create a text document with 1 byte in it,

do this for all the dummy files you have,as some games have more than one.

Well I'm glad SM 2.0 works for you. Search Swap Magic 2.0 and see how many posts are complaining "game X doesn't load with with SMD 2.0." There's no fix for it on swapmagicfix.com, DVD loader, CD loader, and cogswap loader don't work, and even if they do, it's AT LEAST 3 different swaps. Swap Magic 3.6 eliminates the need for that and is reasonably priced around $20. I wouldn't recommend people pissing their hard earned money way on something that doesn't work. Most people I recommend SM 3.6 have great results and thank me for doing so. So I'm glad it SM 2.0 works for you, but in general it blows. Search if you don't believe me. And for the record I don't have SM 3.6 and never claimed I did. I read hundereds of posts a day. Have you successfully booted this game with SM 2.0?

My backup isn't working. I used DVD Decrypter to make the ISO, Nero to burn and I have tried SM 3.6 and the COGSWAP Memory card exploit and it hangs while trying to load a slope. In WM I tried to eject and inserting an official disc (the original game) to do a TOC refresh and it didn't work.

So now I am trying to figure out how to rebuild. I followed that tutorial but something is unclear. I downloaded ISO Buster and when I open my ISO I see 2 branches "ISO" and "UDF". So what do I drag files out of? Just the ISO branch?

You always have to rebuilt EA Games if you use Swap Magic. The rebuilt ISO is only 1.3GB. The TOC can't be bigger than 4.34GB.

It should be in the root directory of the iso. When you open the image with isobuster, the first directory you see.

No, you're fine. Almost no games have actual concrete dummy files, and certainly none of the ones I've ever rebuilt have them.

By the way, it's not so much that "all EA games have to be rebuilt" as it's an unhappy "coincidence" that a certain number of them happen to be 4.37 GB in TOC size.

That said, there are a tons of EA games which don't need rebuilding: All the Lord of the Rings games, Burnout Revenge, Battlefront 2, the NBA Live and NHL series, the James Bond games, Madden (non-collector's edition) and NCAA Football, the Ty platformers, the NFL Street games, SSX 1-3, the Fight Night series, Marvel Nemesis and the Def Jam Vendetta games (over 4.35 GB, but work fine anyway), etc., etc.

A certain handful do need patching or rebuilding: NBA Street Vol. 3, FIFA 2006, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Street, and possibly SSX on Tour, but they're clearly in the minority.

EA games have caused a ton of people problems I had to rebuild NBA Live to get it to run without skipping, and I have a Matrix Infinity 1.54. In general I agree with Pretense, most games don't have dummy files. SSX On tour may not have any. I've given you a rough idea to look for, if you don't see any files similar to those, then just rebuild with Nero and IsoBuster:
11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
