I bought (4) of these cameras over the past 2 years. When the oldest camera was about 18 months old it quit working-no power. I took it in to a dealer for repair and was told it would cost $300 to change a chip on a board. I was then notified that it was the main motherboard that had gone out and it would cost $1000. Since the camera was only about 6 months past warranty, my dealer told me Panasonic would probably at least cut me a deal on the part, but no, Panasonic has refused to budge an inch and will not offer any help with the repairs. I understand what being out of warranty means and I am going to pay for the repair, but I am not at all comfortable with these cameras anymore. I now go into A shoot crossing my fingers and hoping they will power-up when I turn them on. I have lost all faith in Panasonic and next year will be upgrading to either the JVC DV5000 or Canon XL1s (which I really don't like after having used them before. As I stated to my dealer, about 12 years ago I bought an RCA Demo VHS camera and today it's still operating as it did when I bought it new so I don't understand how a "professional" camera can only last a year and a half. This is not acceptable to me and I will not be purchasing anything with the name Panasonic on it anytime soon. My cameras are very well taken care of and have never been dropped, bumped, or even so much as have a scratch on them. Panasonic as you may know has discontinued this camera, but after recieving negative feedback about the decision to discontinue the AG-DVC15 has re-released the camera under the model AG-DVC7, but note that the AG-DVC7 looks just like the AG_DVC15 except that it does NOT have XLR audio inputs and is NOT a 3-Chip camera. Just thought I should let others know of my experiences with Panasonic. I really liked the AG-DVC15, but can not trust it anymore and Panasonics unwillingness to help has turned me completely away from Panasonic.
