hi,
unfortunately, i don't know the "magic alignment numbers" that you requested, however i WILL comment on the QUALITY of the media you just purchased...
Dupsonic DVD-R 4.7GB VANGUARD.... 4x (not very good quality i am afraid, Dupsonic, as the name implies, is also NOTORIOUS for making FAKE TAIYO YUDENS, and YES, i HAVE tried the FAKE TYG02 coded ones on the Dupsonic 8x DVD-R format, simply GARBAGE media)
but, if they suit your needs, i am not one to argue...i am simply suggesting you buy BETTER quality inkjet printables if you want your backups to LAST in the long run...

out of curiousity, which media do you consider "worse" than the Vanguard media ID coding on those Dupsonic 4x DVD-R?
as you said, live and learn... :)

ok, well, with Memorex, it's ALWAYS gonna be a "crap-shoot" :) as to the other ones, i have never even heard about them, so, ok..i'll take your word on it~ :)
i've dealt with about 80% of ALL media that is available in the market at this point or before in the past...but, it's always refreshing to read/hear about a NEW one that i've never personally used before...your example of "Sipper" is definitely NEW to me~ :) whether it's good or garbage, and in this case, the latter...just something else to put into my media database for future reference...i hope someone else can help you with the inkjet settings...good luck~

I'm with Doc on this case and the media stuff. However, the settings for my Silver Inkjet printable Yuden is 43 inner and 119 outer, and the settings for my Maxell hub printable is 22 inner and 119 outer.

I use a decent stainless steel ruler with cork backing to measure inner & outer printing diameters on blanks, but the alignment numbers are specific to YOUR printer. You'll just have to look at what comes out to make the necessary adjustments. But alignment shouldn't change between discs - once you get one centered, leave the alignment alone for ALL future print jobs.

I have used Verbatim hub printable DVD-R discs and set the inner hub to its smallest setting which is 20 and the outer setting to its maximum at 120. I get perfect results using theses settings and do not get any white unprinted area showing. If the hub has any slight ink excess towards the inner hub you can easily wipe it off at the center of the disc with a paper towel. It will come off easily since the center is plastic and the ink won't adhere to the clear plastic center. This assures that no white is left showing and the printed area gives a professional look to it. You can get hub printable Verbatims(94854)at Meritline.com 100 pack for $62.00. I also have tried Prodisc hub printables using same print settings and never had a bad burn from either Verbatim or Prodiscs.
