I backup my DVD's on my Computer, My Laptop and my Wife's Laptop (when she lets me), now the problem is this...My DVD burner in my Comp is about 1 1/2 yrs old. And when it is giving me the rate of transfer to the HD or when it is actually copying the movie it is about 4X. Which takes about 1 1/2 hours to decryt and burn.

Now my laptop used to read to the HD at around 8X and when writing the actual ISO image it was at 8X. And suddenly the past several times I have backed up a movie it's only at 4X.

Why??

One more thing. When I open the image with Shrink on my Computer it is in a folder format, and it will only open it through the big "open file" button. the iso is in an actual folder.

When I use my laptop I can only open the ISO Image with: file, open image, etc. And it is in a ISO format (looks like a paper with a disc in it and looks clear), If I try to open it with the big open file button it won't find the file...

I am just wondering...there is no problem with the backing up of files....I am just curious why they are so different and it is the same program on both the computer and the laptop.

yeah its DMA. I notice it burns some movies at 4x and some at 8x. Question what do i do to make it copy at 8x all the time????

Hi there,

I recommend not to burn above 4x.

I won't go in details, since their's been too many threads talking about it...

Do a quick search, I"m sure you will find tons of threads, and reason not to burn above 4x for best results.
