win98 shows any blank dvd-r material in toshiba sdr-5002 as 648MB cd rom? Please help

Hi,
I cannot get nero to burn any DVD games. I have tried to update my ide drivers (sis 5513) but my system hangs on installation.

I am using nero to try and burn but it says there is not enough space on the dvd-r to backup my dvd games. When I look at a blank dvd-r in the toshiba, it does one of two things, says it is blank cd-rom or says media is not ready.

I am using windows 98 and would really like some help.

when using the ADVDinfo tool, i get the following error message

"ASPI command returned
Sensekey 05h: asc 24h: ascq 00h"
