eyoker,
When you said it freezes, are you playing original disk or burned dvd disk? In what circumstances that you said it freezes. When you are playing the original disk or copy disk? Somestimes it is the dvd media that caused that problem and somestimes it is your dvd player is dying soon.....
If your original dvd disk freezes when playing it means that either your dvd player lens is dusty or dirty try to clean it with solution.
When it wont work, try to wipe your dvd disk with toothpaste and try to play the original disk again.
If both wont work it is time to buy a new set of dvd player....

i play clean original dvd disk no copy and the picture freezes and dvd player does not respond to the remote control.SINCE i play a clean original disk there is no point in cleaning the disk.I think the problem is with dvd lense which is getting either dusty or old.Any comment please.

I've got a couple of new, unscratched discs that do this as well. Not all disc's mind you, just a couple in particular. Makes me think that the issue is with the disc and not the player. Probably a bad spot in the press.

If it's on one certain pressed disc, then maybe a bum disc. If the pausing is on many different discs, then running a lens cleaning disc is in order. That lens cleaning disc would be the last resort before a replacement player. Give one of those $30-$40 Progressive scan players a look. They usually play anything you slap in them, especially backups.

I'm on my 3rd main stand alone:
RCA: $180 player started acting up with original dvds.Too many lens cleanings when not needed.Manual said every 10 hours.I recommend only at last resort.

Sony dvp ns325: $80: played anything I slapped in it,but I only have my own dvds and vhs tapes to watch. No cable or antenna so I do view a ton of dvds.It started freezing with my backups.Lens cleaning helped, until I started using DL media.

Magnavox: El cheapie $37 wal-mart special and plays anything I slap in it from all 6 pc dvd-rws/1 cyberhome tv burner/and my dl backups.
