i have just looked at the size of this game and its 4.37gb, the exact size of a dvd-r, can i just use dvd decrypter to write this or do i need to shrink the mds in some way?

I just straight burned mine using DVD Decrypter READ/WRITE ISO method. A DVD-R blank has a capaity of 4.7g if I'm not mistaken. You'll have to patch the ISO before you burn it if you want to play online though. But a straight burn will fit, no "shrinking" as you said is needed.
