Hi, I have been trying to burn a copy of The Interpreter. I have been using DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero OEM Suite 1. It seems as though it copies it just fine, but when I load my blank disk in (Sony & Phillips DVD+R) I get "burn process failed at 8X). I have tried copying the whole disk and reauthoring, neither works. I have even tried DVD Decrypter, and that doesn't work either. It seems it doesn't recognize the medium. I have copied many dvds using DVD Shrink & Nero with little or no problems. I have been having trouble with the last several movies, including The Amityville Horror. Any ideas. Thanks.

Hmmm,

I succesfully backed both of those up w/ DVDfab/shrink - Actually, I believe I backed my Interpreter up with Clone/AnyDVD - and Amytiville w/ Fab/shrink.

I did Interpreter with AnyDVD, DVDdecryter and DVDShrink. No problems.

Try slowing down your burn process to 4x and see if that helps. You may be having a media issue as well. What kind of media are you using?

I did main movie only using DVD Shrink and Nero. No need for AnyDVD to be activated. The same with amityville horror. Nothing special on them, encryption wise!

Can you post a Nero burn log and edit out the serial number at the top: Starts something like: 1A23-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

What's the brand name/model #/and firmware version of your DVD-RW drive? Look into nerotools for that info.

Can you use neroinfotool to find the MID codes of those phillips and sony discs?

Well, this is my second day trying and I still can't copy either movie. I even went out to buy 4X instead of 8X thinking that was it. It seems to backup just fine, but as soon as I put in the blank disk, using both programs (DVD Shrink & Nero), I get error codes, one of which is the following (before you read this, I apologize if I am now allowed to do this. I'm new, just let me know. Also, I get hook up a scanner, using a "scuzzy" card (don't remember correct spelling):
Thank you in advance -

First off gibscd,welcome to AD.
Second, use the icon of the pencil/eraser at right corner of post to edit out your Nero serial number. Starts with: 1A20-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. Someone can steal it.

Fourth: Reduce your backup target size. What programs you got for your dvd backup process.

Fifth: Slow it down to 4x till you get the bugs worked out. These sony 1x-8x will fly, don't set them to burn at max speed because some burners like my benq 1620s will burn them at 16x!

Here's the obious message,It mean you must update your burner's firmware. After the update, then it should be able to accept your sony 1x-8x SonyD11 media:

lol Nice one Saugmon, I had a very similar problem, apparent media problems, and my output size had jumped to the same No 4464.

I reset Shrink back to 4344 and things went back to 'normal' :)

Mind you I wish I had spotted it as fast as you did lolol loads of coasters.

I keep mine set at 4360,despite using the quality verbatim,fuji-sony taiyo yudens, and ritek media. Very rarely a coaster.I can recall 3 this year, and 2 were playback coasters,1 was a burn coaster on a dash verb.

The thing that threw me off track was; I've always used Ritek, but I wanted to buy some shell cases, my usual UK supplier was out of them.

So I changed suppliers, and just to 'cover' the deliver costs, I ordered a 50 pack of Gigatain 8x MCC guaranteed. (just to try them out)So when things started going wrong, I blamed this new media, went back to Ritek, and had the same problems?? Somehow??? Shrinks output had changed...took a few more coasters, to sort out. lololol

Hi again,
Well I tried everything mentioned above. I used 4 different named brand disks, changed the settings. It copies, but as soon as I put in the blank disk, I get the same error codes. Like I said previously, it all started after I added a scanner and used a scsi card. In one of the paragraphs of the error message in my 2nd message
at 11:32:42 pm time, it mentions something about a scsi_err. I'm wondering if there is a conflict there. I may take out the scsi card and see what happens. Let me know what you think. Been working on this for days. Thanks.
