Phillips DVP 642

Yesterday I prepared a firmware upgrade CD R. Burned it as per instructions in the PDF... I brought it home and left it on top of the TV, went out to my 2nd job for 4 hours.

When I came home my Significant Other informs me the DVD isn't working.

Well it turns out she thought it was just another movie I brought home and popped it in the player, pushed who knows how many buttons before giving up on it.

The player is now dead in the water....
I had to phisically take the drive apart to remove the disc

Is there any way to reset the thing? A way to re-install from the cd I made prehaps? I would rather try anything then going thru a service call or repair center.

Thanks for any help or input
