what program/method do u use to burn divx/xvid movies to play on a standalone. I have a DVP642.

I currently use roxio but it seems like it's a hit n miss. sometimes it plays fine sometimes it stalls. I'm pretty sure it's not the file cuz if I re-burn the exact same file and it won't stall on the same spot. and I checked it with MPEG4modifier and it doesn't seem to have any of the abnormalities that would cause problems on a standalone. thnx

i suggest you try vso DivX to dvd.This program will encode your xvid/divx files to mpeg2 which is the format you require.

Before we get ahead of our selves turf roxio.the program requires 100%of your computer solely for it to work.If you have other apps on your pc, it will conflict with them.

Once you have got rid of roxio, see about using Nero recode.It works hand in hand with vso DivX to dvd

Never had any problems with Nero here, but then my player isn't a DVP642, it isn't even ESS based. Either way I never liked Roxio. Nero is a free demo, however v7 is 100+MB's.

Why would they want to waste time and quality converting to DVD if they don't need to?

Are you burning to CD or DVD? Because DVD should allow for higher data transfer rates, if that has anything to do with the issue.
