SONY DW-U12A NEED HELP!

i bought a sony desktop viao last week which came with a DW-U12A dvd writer in it. when i ordered i was told it was the same as the 500AX. the specs say 4Xmax/2Xwrite/2Xread. i want to burn the 4X +R's, can i burn this media with this burner? do i need firmware? if i can't what is the fastest and cheapest +R media i can burn with this burner and where do i get it. i want a 100 spindle order. any help would be appreciated.

think im right good burner only i wouldnt buy 1 seen too many people compaining on the forums about them.

least u come 2 the right forums though
