Why is there such a difference in the quality scan. They are both the Yuden000T02 variety. The Sony consistently score 95+ and the Fuji are anywhere from 55 to 92. I'm talking same machine, same movie. I don't really know what the scan tells you but a higher number makes me feel better. Is Fuji getting 2nd Class Yudens? I prefer to think the scan software itself is flawed(DVDInfoPro) but it is at least consistent.
Also I have a few TY01s that score 0.00. Is that really good or really bad?
They should be the same. I use the Fujis, and I get virtually no errors on my discs. I don't know what the scan you are talking about is though. Maybe that is something I cannot do with my Pioneer Drive (some Nero Feature).
Yeah I've come to the conclusion that DVDInfoPro and/or my Pioneer drive give inaccurate scan info. Eventually..after an overnight cooldown the Fujis scored high. I think I'm going to just buy what I believe to be good and hope for the best. My only real proof will be picture quality and overall playability. Thanks for the reply.
also just a passing note, PIONEER drives are NOT GOOD FOR SCANNING~!! period, my pioneer dvr-109 gives some of the most unpredictable results in scanning...it's much more consistent using my Litey or my Benq when using Nero or dvdinfopro~ :) so, no need to worry, don't go by a Pioneer drive's results, your Fuji YUDEN000T02's should be just fine~ :)
i really like my Pioneer drive as it's one of THE FASTEST ones i have, but, it's very poor to run scans on~ good luck~

Thanks for the replies. Glad to see I'm not crazy when it comes to unpredictable Pioneer results. As cheap as the Sony and Fuji Tys can be found on sale for I'll probably stick with them. Supplemented by the Office Depot Riteks. My TDKs went back to Costco. The few I have remaining will be for data backup. Thanks again.
Also, do not spend to much time scanning for errors. Just scan 1 disc per Pack max. The results from 1 disc should be almost identical to other discs given that burn speed is the same.
