Well you've gone past the hard stage. What I would recommend is that you download a program called DVD Shrink, which is free and then go to this link, print out how to use the prog and follow it to the letter. http://www.dvdplusvideo.com your DVDs can be edited with this prog.

I am still having problems; I downloaded the DVD Shrink and I was able to copy the dvd to my hard drive, but I can't import it to windows movie maker to edit it; everytime I try I get this message:

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Videos\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

I hope someone could help me; thanks in advance.

Like everything Bill Gates touches, he wants it to be "special" and tied to all the rest of windows. Windows Movie Maker doesn't care much for any formats except those created by Windows, for Windows. The files you're dealing with now can be easily editted by the program gwendolin pointed you towards. Simply Open DVD Shrink, "Open Files", "BROWSE" until you find your folder containing your movies, Once your files are loaded into DVD Shrink, Click on "Re-author". Your movie fiiles will be on the right, click and drag "Main movie, Title 1" into the white box on your left, under the heading that says, "DVD Compilation" - "DVD Structure". THEN, you'll see a start / finish icon (" I-> <-I", even but a little towards the right) with the "DVD Structure" box. Use that to easily edit your DVD, removing those pieces which you don't want and connecting the remaining pieces together. Your other option would be to "Google" for some software to convert DVD to WMA files. I looked for a moment and found lots of software to go away from WMA but nothing that stood out to go to that format.

Many pple have your problem with music files also. When using a Windows format, all goes easily and well when playing in a PC BUT, when trying to play in the rest of the world, many report problems.

I hope this has been of some help,

Pete

First of all, thanks to Pete and gwendolin; unfortunately this is giving me a headache, I just can't get it; I have used DVD Shrink and dvd decrypter; it seems to work, I follow the steps, but at the end I can't watch the edited file from dvd decrypter; with DVD Shrink I am able to copy the dvd into my hard drive, but when I try to open it with windows movie maker it doesn't work; I am able to open it with windows media player though; can you think of something else? thanks in advance.

Hello, I am still trying to import my videos to windows movie maker; someone recommend the use of Easydivx and it worked awesome, finally I was able to convert the video so WMM would open it; the problem is that it only copied over 2 minutes of audio and the 33 minutes of video in a different file; it was not a big deal becasue with WMM I was able to match the two files and it worked great; I have copied the video several times and I am still getting only 2 minutes of the audio; any thoughts? thanks in advance. Perhaps using a better program would help. PowerDVD works just fine.

I don't believe it is capable of reading an ISO image. Again, a less limited program would not hang you up so. Employing a program that's capable of reading the full spectrum of video files and images would of course solve your problems. My Grand Daddy used to tell me, "Ya can't get a full day's work from a horse with 3 legs." (Lol :)

Try mounting the ISO image you got from burning DVD Shrink's files with DVDD using Daemon Tool's virtual drive.

Cheers,

marioce,

You're making things way to complicated. Forget about windows movie maker and just use DVD Shrink with the instructions given by gwendolin and scubapete to edit. Pete has his own website with a lot of good info you might want to check out. The link is in my sig.
