Does anyone know how to get round copying the new dvds with the copy protected sign on them. I have Kingdom of heaven. It plays with pauses and the images jump all the time.
I HAVE DVD shrink, Dvd Fab and Nero, any suggestions?

Thanks

Surely you mean you "BOUGHT" the DVD and are now trying to "back it up" for personal reasons right? B/c renting and burning is ILLEGAL.

I can assure you that Kingdom of Heavan does not have a special protection on them, I did it w/ DVD Shrink alone ,of course I burned w/ Nero. And the skipping and jumps is that on the original or the back up you made? Also what speed are you burning at?

PLZ edit out your post.

If you are having problems with skipping, freezing or pixellation you either are burning to fast, need better media or a firmware update. As stated there is nothing special about this DVD I ripped it with Decrypter and then used DVD Rebuilder.

I would agree with arniebear, it's media issue, or burnspeed issue. I backed this up easily. Good movie too! Set your target size to 4300 as well and that way you will not burn too close to the edges of the disc.

The jumping is called layer transition on the disk and its annoying.
I have changed my dvd size to 4300 and I will try backing it up again. Thanks, Oh well it says cycle redundancy at 84%.

Ps glue eatter, Do u open the disk and save it to yr hard drive. I've tried backing up files with nero but it just comes up as a file on the dvd and does not play automatically, its like saving a word doc.

I had no idea you were using dual layers, I assumed since you used Shrink you had a DVD9 compressing to a DVD5. You can't back anything up w/ Nero because Nero will not bypass any encryption for you, you can use Nero to back up a back up but not to back up the original.

Cyclic Redundancy Error usually means that the discs are dirty and you just have to wipe them, here is a thread that will go into more detail.

Are you using dual layer to backup, because if you are you do not need to set your size at 4300 because you need to make a 1.1 copy. You also should not use Shrink for dual layers. Use DVD Decrypter for this in iso read open the small MDS file it creates and then do iso write. The MDS file contains the info on the iso file and the layer break.

@arniebear

How bout the burning speed...does it still need to be throttled back?

I say you should go even slower when burning a dual layer, but I know you asked Arniebear, that was just my 2 cents.

LOCOENG,
On doing D/L disk I burn at 2.4 although the burner can do 4X and yes the speed does need to be throttled back ( expensive disks if you screw up)LOL. I try to burn at using 1/2 the rated speed of the disk unless they are TY's( have not seen d/l Ty's yet)

I too keep it at 2.4X even though my Plexie will go like lightning. I get an error at 4x right at the layer break with Decrypter, it does not like to transition at that speed to the next layer.
