I don't know much about this stuff, so I need your help. I had someone mod my xbox so it can play my copied games. I don't know what he did or added. I have a cross-over cable linking my xbox to my pc. I downloaded a free trial of flashfxp. I don't know what to do after that to be able to link to my xbox so that I can copy my games from xbox to pc. Could someone take the time and list step by step what to do. I keep reading about evox. How do I know if I got it or how do I get it? Please help me.

Thanks for your time,

James

Evox is your dash. You don't know what dash you have? Evolution X, Unleash X, Avalaunch, MediaXMenu. You need to find that out before we can help you...or..

If you have a crossover, good. In *whatever* dash you have, find somewhere where you can access/change network settings. You need to have a "static" IP (don't use DHCP or auto configuration) something like 192.168.0.5, subnet is always 255.255.255.0. NO DNS or anything. Then in FlashFXP you just connect to that on port 21. In evox, the username and password is "xbox"
Not sure what username/pass is in other dash's cause I use XBMC and mod other's with evox. It should say somewhere in the settings. Not hard at all bro
Good luck.

Contact whoever installed the modchip and ask them, they should be able to help out with things. Other things you might be able to try to identify what you have is to power on with the eject button rather than the power button, or hold in the power button when booting the xbox. Try a few combinations of that. If you HAVE a dashboard installed, just power on as usual, and you should see a screen that is SIGNIFICANTLY different from the normal xbox dashboard (Memory/Music/Live menu etc).

Okay. Like I said, I am very new to this, and I appriciate you helping. I think I am using the unleashx v0.37. My xbox IP is 192.168.0.200. My xbox subnet is 255.255.255.0. And my xbox gateway is 192.168.0.1. And I am using a crossover cable to link the xbox and PC directly. I have aso downloaded FlashFXP. So what are my steps from the very beginning to the end.

Thanks again.

I gave you a step by step.

You go into FlashFXP and click new connection, type in 192.168.0.200, username is ? password is ?, try xbox for both. Like I said I don't know what they are for unleash x, try finding the settings area of unleash x and look for something about ftp, how to enable/disable, the user/pass...etc.

So you uncheck "anon login" and enter username and pass and you are in. You should see a list of folders with drive names (letters)

or something like that. very easy I'm afraid.

Try:

Username: xbox
Password: xbox
Port: 21
IP Address: 192.168.0.200

Absolute worst case, try opening Internet Explorer and typing the following into your address bar:

ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.200

IE is very slow and inefficient at transferring files though, so should only be used to check that the connection is working. It also stops transferring everything if it encounters invalid file names, FlashFXP is good at handling these sort of things. Hope it helps a little, otherwise you may need to check the cable is working right?

Does it need to be on static or DHCP? Also on Flash fxp do I need to type the xbox ip on the "server or url" line or on the "remote path" line?

I said static already. Why don't you just try it instead of asking every single little thing. You won't break anything.

Also make sure your Local Area Connection is not set to "obtain ip adress automatically.
You need to go in and put 192.168.0.1 in it, and the standard subnet.

You have no route to host because of this, I think.

To change it go into your network connections in control panel. Right click on the LAN and go down to TCP/IP and click settings.
