I was able to get the tools inserted, but the device is not working. I bought the slim tools that allow you to close the lid after loading a booted game. However, I am not able to do the swap disc method. I mildly keep the lid close enough to allow the PS2 to read the Magic Swap disc, so I do not have to press the eject button to swap. However, the gap is too small to take out the magic swap disc and insert my back-up. So I just lifted the lid, but I get the error of insert bigger TOC disc or something like that. I am not sure whether one of the tools has been inserted incorrectly (I keep thinking the problem lies within Tool C, which should trick the PS2 into thinking the lid is closed). Any help?

Are you sure you have installed tool C correctly, it is tricky getting it in the right place so you might have to remove it and try to put it in again, and make sure you have pushed it in as far as it goes, what version is your PS2, v12 or v13?
Try to move tool C around when you put your ps2 on and c if it makes a difference, im sure it isnt in properly.

Alright, I'll keep messing around with tool c. Also, what is the difference between V12 and V13? I bought my slim PS2 after a month or two after it was released.

for the v13 which i think is silver, or a white model, the tool is different you have to get another piece called tool D.

If you bought it after 1-2 months of its release date, it is most likely v12, just make sure you have put tool c in the correct position, use the the swap magic link it has instructions.

Yeah, then I have V12 since V13 is not available anywhere in the states as far as I know. So far no luck fixing the problem, but I'm going to take out all the tools and insert them again. Is there a video for the slim tools that allow you to keep the lid close? I Know there is one for the ones in which you have to keep the lid open.

MastaAce move the piece around a little bit with the lid open and see if anything happens

Yeah, I think I'm just going to order the flip-top thing, because these tools are a major pain.
