I've been using my Swap magic 3.6 for about a month now with the slide card, and haven't had any trouble until today.
Now, whenever I boot a backup, everything works fine until a press X on my ps2 to boot the backup. After that, the ps2 just takes me back to the system's browser screen showing my memory card and PS2 disc in the system (which is my backup disc). I've tried with many different games and keep getting the same problem.
I have even tried pressing where it says Ps2 disc after it takes me back to the browser. That just makes the screen go black for a few seconds as it tries to boot the game, then returns to the exact same browser screen.
My ps2 is working fine with all my original copy games. I've even tried opening the system (yes, I know what I'm doing in there) to clean the lens, but that did not help me.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I would be forever grateful. Thanks!

That link explains it all. You need a slide card to use it on the fat PS2 without violating your warranty. For the slim PS2 use the magic keys. Sheesh.

You can't download Swap Magic, you have to buy the original. The only way to boot a backup of Swap Magic is with a modchip or an original copy. Read that link, it answers every one of these questions.

8. Q. What should I use to download PS2 games?
A. Bit torrent, P2P, IRC, or newsgroups. Bit torrent is the easiest and most common way. You need a BT client like Bit Tornado, Azureus, Bitlord, Bitcomet, Shareza, etc.
9. Q. Where can I find PS2 games to download?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/249297 That's the last free answer. EVERY QUESTION you just asked is answered in that link. I'm tired of helping people that are too lazy to read.

Not sure of the brand exactly... all I know is they are 8x DVD-R
But it can't be the DVD's can it? It's kind of weird that they all stop working at the exact same time eh

It most certainly can. It should say on the DVD-R. If not check the package.

The DVD-R's themselves are completely blank except for on the centre ring they say "DVD-R" and "8x".
And they come on a spindle, which is just generic. The outside packaging that came with them had the brand, but that's long gone...
What are the best brands to use? I'll go and grab a single one and try burning a game, and get back to you...

Sticky this Darthnip, please.
1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, etc.
