Can someone give me some help in choosing the type if Adaptive Error Compensation to use. What's the difference between them and what's the best to use. Thanks.

eg37se,
The larger the compression the more smoother the AEC you want to use. Lets use Star Wars III as an example. In Movie only mode the movie ( Title 1) was 6.91+ gb. You should use Max smoothness for the AEC as the compression was 39.8%. In using Shrink w/ compression over 30 % I use max smoothness for everything

I really depends on what movie you are doing and if you really want to do it at all because it really increases your rip time. I do it for all movies regardless of compression ratio, unless it's no commpression at all. Smooth is if you want the movie to really flow, this is if you are worried about skips mostly. I do 'smooth' for nearly all movies. The other option is sharp, this is for picture quality. I do this for movies that are animated or if it's something where quality and graphics is half the experience, LotR for example.

@Car.Mike

Just curious about your compression on that movie. I backed it up last night at about 32% in Reauthor mode. Did you remove any additional audio or subtitles?

LOCOENG ,
Since I had the movie on the HD I quickly pulled it up . Kept all of the English speaking as you removed it all except the 5.1 . That is the difference. Normlly I would have removed all of the English except 5.1 and I just have no idea why I kept it for this thread.

p.s. I did the movie w/ DVD-RB as I am now uisng that on movies w/ more than 20% compression

Thats what I thought. If you did the whole disk on a DL, would you still have to use DVD Shrink? This disc is a monster !!!

And that in reauthor mode.
