*Note* I have searched these forums for a solution to my problem but ot no avail*

I have a laptop with a 15.4 inch widescreen, and when i use Media Player Classic to take a screen shot using "save image" the saved image does not appear in the correct aspect ratio, but the image on the screen(2.35:1 aspect ratio) does. Does anyone know how to correct this?

Also, does anyone know how to get it to take a screenshot without the bars at the top for a widescreen movie?

No answer regarding MPC.

But an alternative, excellent program would be BSplayer, it is free and allows user to capture frames in two ways: "what you see" and in original size.

So to slove your problem of widescreen capture, your could play the movie in BS player, change aspect ratio and use "what you see" screen capture to take a screen shot.

Thanks for the reply Lyoooha, but I would really like to find a solution for this in MPC. I tried BSplayer but I prefer MPC. Its just more simple and streamlined than Bsplayer, plus if it takes me more than 10 seconds to find out how to play a dvd in a player, you've pretty much lost me.

Anyway, I tried taking screen captures again, this time on my laptop(1280x800 screen) connected to a crt monitor(800x600 screen). I loaded the DVD up, took a screenshot(using the save image command) and it was still incorrect, but than I opend up my laptop screen(now running at 800x600 res. becasue its connected to a monitor) and the aspect ratio in the image was correct!!!! It should be noted that this is only a problem for dvds, I am able to take perfect screenshots in other vidoes.

Any help would be aprreciated.

I don't know much about Media Player Classic screenshots, but what I can suggest is taking a normal screenshot. when you get to the frame you want to take, hit the `PrtSc` button (located above the insert button). Then go into paint and click paste. There is your frame.

Hope that helps

Thanks Lethal_B, that worked. It is a bit annoying to have to edit each of your screenshots to get just the movie(even when in fullscreen mode) it will have to work for now. I'm still going to look for a solution, but this will do.

Thanks again!
