Initially I took a 80Gb Seagate Hard Disk from my computer and put it in my Xbox. I did format the 80Gb hard disk in the Xbox using Xbox format and it work for 3 months. Now I need to remove this 80Gb hard disk from the Xbox and put it in a computer. The computer does recognised this 80Gb hard disk upon boot up. But Windows XP does not recognise it. How do I get rid of the Xbox format system on the hard disk and allow Windows XP to detect it?? What software do I need to use to remove the Xbox Format?????

By the way before I remove the Xbox format on the hard disk, I need to back up what's on the hard disk. What software to I need to install on my computer to allow the computer to recognise the XBOX partitions and copy the Xbox data files???
Thanks in advance.

If you want to backup all the data from your 80gigger before formating it to the pc,just ftp into it while it's in the xbox and transfer all the files to your pc. Then you can erase as much as you can off the hard drive.

Now for your pc to use the hard drive it first has to know that it's in there. You said that the pc noticed it at start up,but winxp doesn't. If you right click 'my computer' there will be an option called 'manage'....select that. This will bring up a window...on the left near the bottom of the list select 'disk management'. You should see all your hard drives and optical drives on the right.

If you can see the 80gigger in this list you should be able to right click it and select 'format'. This will format it to use an NTFS file system...and then would be recognized by winxp.

If you still can't see the disk in this stage, just to make sure that the pc knows it's in there....right click 'my computer' again and select properties. Now select 'hardware' and then the tab 'device manager'. If you expand the title 'disk drives' you should see your 80gigger in the list.

I know sometimes your pc will take awhile at startup when you put in a drive from your xbox.....just wait it out and it should come around.

If you have problems even after all this,I would start to google it....it could be alot of little things that could at fault.
