Need help uploading Video to PC (DV cam JVC model GR- D33U)

I need help uploading video from my JVC digital video camera (JVC model GR- D33U) to my PC. I bought a FireWire cable (6ft) and connected it to the FireWire port 1394 on my computer. Then when I go to Windows Movie Maker I and click capture video form device, nothing shows up. All it says is " A video capture device was not detected. Verify that a device is turned on and connected properly, and then try again."

The first time I connected the camera to the PC it said "new hardware found, video camera, something like that. But that was the only time, now every time I connect it nothing shows that that it plugged in to the PC.

Would really appreciate the help, thanks.
