Hi, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me the difference between DVD+R and DVD-R. I don't have a clue. Is one more compatable with DVD players?

Would really be grateful to anyone who would take the time.

This has got to be the hundreth time I've explained this, which is alot b/c I don't have that many post.

You know you could just search it. but here goes...

DVD-R is more compatible with most players, but DVD+R can be booktyped into DVD ROM which is the universal booktype and can be read by all players. The thing is is that not all burners can booktype, virtaully all Lite-Ons, Nec, BenQ, Sony, Plextor etc. can booktype. So it's all really just a matter of compatibility.

The manner in which data is written to the disk differs between the two formats, but the end result is essentially the same. +R media can be booktyped which may help some standalone players recognize and play the disk, especially with +R9 DL media. -R was the original and was thought to have greater compatibility with players at one time. With newer standalone players, there is no difference in compatibility or performance.
