My ps2 is modded with matrix infinity v1.39 (so it says, and i have no clue if it is a real chip or not; i can't open up my ps2 fully as the screw that holds the laser is very tight, and i am having trouble loosening it)
Right now I have a xploder v4 dvd that works on original games, but i can't load backups after switching from the xploder disc to the backup. Is there a way to make it possible? Does upgrading the flashware help? (I am aware that my ps2 is doomed if i upgrade and my chip is fake)

Well your PS2 wouldn't be destroyed, but the chip would be. It could be a modbo or a million other Matrix clones, unfortunately there's probably more clones of the Matrix Infinity than any other chip. The screw that hold the laser, do you have a slim?
