i recently pulled my ps2 slimeline v12 apart i only took the plastic top off my ps2.

but when i put it back together the red light comes on but when i press power no green..

i checked the ribbons they seem fine although a tiny little metal rectangle peice was on the ground with the corners cut off it.

The metal piece is for the vertical stand screw that goes in at the bottom of the PS2 when you stand it up, why did you open the the console for no reason, these things cause trouble man, try to avoid the urge to look inside, but anyway, leave the cover of the ps2 of and press the power button using your finger and see what happens, dont touch the PCB though, if you short something and blow it up it isnt my fault mate.

Sorry, but how can the power button fall out, if the red light was still coming on, or are you saying the power button is broken?

Oh i see, so what you should do is try to put the loose piece back in, if it doesnt stick back in then you will have to buy a replacement, its odd you know, how did it fall out, never seen that happen before, you sure you didnt force it out or something buy mistake.

2nd2one, yes you can use a hair dryer or something, but i didnt do that, i used a pin and put it under the sticker in between the top and bottom shell and slowly slid it under the top half and removed it very slowly, the stiker wasnt damaged or anything and is still usable, dont pull the sticker of fast otherwise the words VOID will come up, if that does happen get a blank pen marker and on the sticky side of the sticker go over the words.

thanks waleedwc, I got it. I used an exacto knife with a straight blade on it, and went real slow, it came off perfect...however, my sticker is on one of the screw holes on the bottom of the case. again, thanks for the help.

Hi,

i've had the exact same problem as you do. I tried to put solder on the contacts but it wouldn't work. The only way i could put it on is by using a small screw on it.

Did you find any replacement part or scheme to put a switch on it ?
Thanx a lot :)
