VCD to DVD ??

I downloaded a movie in VCD format. It is contained on 2 discs. I am familiar with converting different video types. However, this is new to me.

OK...The VCD came in BIN/CUE format, and I extracted the files from both images. I am left with two AVSEQ01.dat files. Converting these two should not be a problem for me. However, since I am burning these to a DVD, my question is how do I combine these two without any problems? (eg. audio synchronization, video quality, etc.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK...Firstly when Putting VCD files on to DVD you do not have to re-encode them because they are allready DVD Compliant accept for the audio which simply needs to be resampled to 48000hz...Re-encodeing VCD Files to Standard DVD Resolution will Just Ruin the Quality and Greatly increase the File size so it is not recomended.....

The First thing you do is Join the 2 Mpeg-1/Dat files together into a single Mpeg-1 file...If you can get ahold of a program called "Womble Mpeg2VCR" you can Join the 2 Files together while resampleing the audio to 48000hz at the same time.....

To Put VCD Files on to DVD you have to Use certain Software that supports this DVD Format Like "Tmpgenc DVD author" or "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" both of which will let you add menu"s and Chapters to your Movie and Both will resample the audio for you and format it all into a "Video_TS" folder which it then burns to DVD or you can burn it yourself with Nero in "DVD Video" Mode.....

Starting from the beginning:
the movie, in a VCD, is stored on a 'riff file' (file with header) , in D:\MPEGAV\AVSEQ01.DAT
Before doing anything , you have to remove the header from the .DAT file, to make a 'True MPEG'.

The simplest way I know id VCDGear [video-cd] cue/bin --> mpeg .

After you've your movies as 'true mpegs', you have to

1) join them
2) turn the VCD movies 44.1 kHz [(S)VCD compliant] into movies with audio 48 kHz (DVD compliant)
3) author a DVD image containing plenty of VCD movies (about 470' movies into a 4.7 GBV DVD)

The guide uses VCDEasy to convert AVSEQ01.DAT into a mpg, but the work to do is the same...
