As far as I can tell, emulators aren't even worth using on GC since most emulators lack save support. I *think* the only one that can save is the FCE Ultra GC (NES emulator). Also, you'd have to burn them to DVD+/-R after creating an ISO with one of those programs that compile the emulator and roms together. Or something like that. Haven't messed with it since the Xbox is so much better at it.

I actually haven't bothered streaming anything to my GC since I just burn everything to disc. So I can't really help you with that. Not to mention I use a qoob Pro and just flash all the dol files I plan on using straight to its onboard flash.

My advice is to just play the emulators on a PC or some other platform that is better suited for it such as Xbox.

i agree as a xbox modder things do run better on the xbox..
i was just hoping i would be able to run n64, stuff on the gamecube..

the reason i asked about streaming is becose when i run from stuff from cd it keeps coming up with DRE, this is just a little project for my daughter. she keeps scratching all the games,
so i had a look about and can across this lovely fourm, thats what gave me the idea to make backups of her games.

anthor quick questio do i need to get rid of the garbage in the iso? that might be why its giving me DRE or should i just leave it?

once again thanks

The so-called "garbage data" are on the discs for padding purposes. It's required in order to have the proper offsets for reading the data. To wipe it means making it useless as-is by itself.

For the DREs, best bet is to ensure you have everything working right. Use the right brand/type of media, make sure the POT is set right and use the latest BIOS. Beyond that, it tends to be a crap shot.

Sorry I can't be of too much help otherwise. It seems like the entire emulation scene has ground to a virtual halt in the past year. The only place new emulators are coming out, are for the PSP. :/

Looks like I forgot to mention that the GC's lens can only read DVDs, so CDs won't work at all. Hence all the DRE messages you're getting.

The N64 emulators aren't worth using since most games don't work well and there's no save features.

As for media, grab some Ritek G04 like everyone else seems to prefer. Verbatims work great as well. Since you say your daughter tends to scratch all her games, just get a full size DVD-R case mod (top half or full, doesn't matter really) and buy some good DVD-Rs. DVD+R works for some people and not at all for others.

"Pot" is shorthand for potentiometer, aka variable resistor. Basically, it's being used to adjust the laser so that it'll read the DVD media better. Since some GCs can read DVD-Rs just fine without ever having the pot adjusted, I suggest you try playing back-ups before trying to adjust the pot. If slow load times, random DREs, etc. occur, adjust the pot as needed. There's a wonderful guide available on modthatcube that explains the whole process in excessive detail.
