Actually that's real. I remember I heard about it. Not for private use though. Too much storage. For commercial purposes as a substitute for hard drive arrays.

Rudeboi thats just not true. The person submitting the info has to go through a long validation proccess. If what they have submitted is false then the members of the wiki can have the info put up for review. You must have respectable sources!

Anyway I have heard of HVD in the news and I went to wiki afterward.

What you're describing is something like urbandictionary.com.
Wikipedia is a little more credible.

oh sorry about that.

its a standalone player, not for sale. its sole purpose is for demonstrating the HDTV rather than the player.

Yeah, it's real. The prices are real, too. Still, even at $15k for a read/write device and $120 per disc, these are going to be popular enough to drive prices down quickly. I would expect read/write drives to be in the $400-500 range two years after introduction.

Or 3,900 GB's... enough to store around 800 dvd movies on.. at $120 for a disc that's pretty good. I suspect it will be a long long time before this goes commercial though and will still be out of the price range of most consumers.... You've gotta love the way technology is heading though, I can now build myself a decent computer(excluding monitor) for around £300($440 approx) and just 12 years ago I bought my first proper PC at around £1000 which was a pentium 90 with a 250Mb HDD, no cd rom, no sound card, no modem.. piece of crap basically, but was one of the best around at the time.
Bring on the advancements!!!
