If you can, run a disc quality test and also a benchmark test using Nero CDSpeed ( www.cdspeed2000.com ) on the problem discs and report on what results you get. If your PIEs are >280 and PIFs > 32 (for ECC 8) in the disc quality test, and your benchmark test curve is bad, it's a sure sign your backups are poorly burned. Even if they work, you'll be putting your PS2 laser under a lot of stress.

On the other hand, if you get good results, then it's probably your PS2 laser going down the drain.

I burned a new backup at 4x and have had good luck. thank you.
i'm running maxell DVD+R and booting with swapmagic 3.6 but I don't have Nero, only sonic digitalmedia v7 OEM and DVD Decrypter. actually i have Nero express OEM, but heard you need the full version to do ISO/UDF files. is that true, or can i get a free upgrade to the full suite version.

If you're just wanting to burn an iso image you only need Nero express.. you select the option BURN IMAGE.
If you want to rebuild with Nero then you need the full version... you can't update to a full version from an oem..you'd have to buy the retail package or purchase a full licence I think.

Glad it worked for you though
