Hello. I have been burning some discs lately using Decryptor/Shrink/Nero and it seems that each movie gets about 3/4 of the way through and it starts to really pixelate to the point where it stops playing. I followed one guide where it states to custom format the disc to only 4300MB. I am using Sony DVD-R media. I am not sure what speed I am burning these at but I believe it is 4x. Some of the forums say it could be a media issue. When using something like Shrink is there a point in the compression ratio that you just say this will not produce a good picture - ie. if the compression is at like 70% do you say forget it? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

yes it does cause you to lose some picture quality when you compress,my advice is to click re author and select main movie only this will cure your problem,or my other favourite progs are dvd rebuilder and cinema craft encoder the best money can buy, quality second to none, dvd rebuilder is free but CCE is £30 sterling that is for the basic the pro version is ££££££££££$$$$$$$$$$$

I do the re-author on all of the movies but for some reason I get bad quality at the end. Three of the movies I noticed this on are Samurai X, House of Wax and Almost Famous.

I have 2 ideas that may help u fiqure out the problem.

1. it could b the media u ae using although highly unlikley, check out the actual manifacturer and post who it is and wel will tell u uf its any good.

2. It could b the fact that ur codecs may not b up to date soo make sure u get the newest codec bundle, this may get rid of the pixelation.

The 1st one is the full pack and the 2nd is the standard pack, take ur pick.

Good Luck...

I think the problem may have been me burning the movie too fast. Some of the movies I burned are fine. I checked my setting this AM and it was set to burn at maximum speed. I changed it to 4x. Hopefully this will work. I burned one of the movies I had problems with over the weekend and will try to watch it again tonight. Thanks for all of the assistance everyone.

The pix was probably caused by burning too fast. Keep it at 4x and you shouldn't have any problems. The only other thing that i can think of that may cause this, is a fragmented HD. Check your HD for fragmentation. I have had great results with Sony media. I got pixillation when i tried a test burn of a movie at 16x. I figured the thing would be horrible, and it was. Burnt at 4x and the same movie came out perfect. Cost me one disc, but i learned something.
