Hi.
I've noticed that when using FFDSHOW to play DivX video that the sound is fine when you first start playback (using Media Player Classic) but it quickly (although gradually) drops in volume a bit, and seems to lose some of the 'top end'. I've tried the official DivX codec and it doesn't seem to have the problem, so I'd guess it's not MPC. I've also tried three different versions of FFDSHOW (including the latest, 2005-11-11) and all seem to do the same thing.
It's easy to duplicate the problem simply by letting MPC play a DivX video for a minute or so. During that time the playback volume will gradually drop till it get's down to it's 'normal' level. Then when you move the location slider to get MPC to jump to a new location in the video, the level will jump back up again as it resumes playing, although the main thing I notice is that the high frequencies instantly return.
I'm just listening to the audio through a stereo PC speaker system if that makes a difference.

Does anyone else experience this, or have an idea why it happens?

Thanks!

I also forgot to ask........

If you have more than one codec of the same type (say DivX) installed, is there an easy way to switch between them for video playback using Media Player Classic?

Thanks again.

I have had this problem for over a year with playback using MPC with and without FFDShow. I have never found a solution. It does not occur with the MSFT player, but who uses that??

I hope someone coems up with a solution for this.

I think I found the solution to the volume problem with MPC. Seems it might be the Normalize function under the Audio Decoders option.
Try turning it off and see how you go.
I assumed the problem was with FFDShow as I didn't think it would happen using the DivX codec, but maybe I just didn't notice it.
