I have used cloneCD to create an image and I used cdmage to scan for corupt sectors and it came back and said I had 504 . So what would be my next step?
You can try again lowering the read speed. It the new image has less errors (or errors in different sectors than the first one) you can repair the 1st image importing sectors from the 2nd or vice versa.
If the same error occurs in the same place it might be that
---> the disc is scratched;
---> the Disc is Safedisc/Laserlock protected (did you check that (with ClonyXXL for instance?). In this case I seem to remember (but I'm not sure) that CDMage might detect broken sectors but this will give no problem.
BTW, you can try burning the game (on a CD-RW) with the proper backup settings (depending on protection, see the Guide). If the backup installs properly then the error was a fake.
Corrupt sectors=bad sectors. This is very common when reading an image that is Safedisc cd protected (usually 1st 10,000 sectors of the cd). Use ClonyXXL to scan the disc and see what version of Safedisc is on the disc.
ClonyXXL:http://www.primacom.net/~m6030328/downloads.htm What is the name of the game title your attempting to backup?
What brand name and model# is your burner?
Asus K8N nVidia nForce3 Pro 250 GB, Athlon 64 3200+, Hitachi 80 gig SATA 150, Corsair XMS 1 gig PC4000, ATI Radeon Saphire 9600 Pro (256 DDR), Windows XP Pro (64 Bit),Lite-ON SOHD 167T,, Plextor PX-712SA,BenQ 1640.
